Summary

This thematic workshop is the second meeting between French astronomers and researchers from Météo France. The first workshop (June 2015) was intended to bring together the two communities and identify possible interactions. Among the themes identified, data assimilation has emerged as a priority issue. This new meeting is centered on this theme. If atmospheric meteorological community has been using data assimilation techniques for many years  to initialize its forecasting models of the time, the astronomy community begins to show interest for its predictive models in space weather.

Description of the program

This workshop will cover three components

  1. the theory and data assimilation methods
  2. application areas in atmospheric meteorology and space weather and
  3. instrumentation for real-time data.

Registration at the workshop is free but mandatory (deadline 22/09/2016 for abstract submission).
